Countdown to NX35 2010: 50 Days ’til Kickoff*
50 days ’til NX35 2010
I missed NX35 2009 for some reason that was so unimportant, I can’t even remember now. And that’s a crying shame to have missed out on the inaugural year of such a key event in the town I now call home, Denton.
But this year is different. I’m a little bit older, a little bit wiser, and not only am I attending NX35 2010 but I have signed up to volunteer my time, limbs, and whatever else they need from me (well, you know, within reason). I’ve gotten to acquaint myself with those who really do live and bleed for this music festival and their passion is contagious. Working a little behind the scenes, you find out which local businesses are supportive, how excited the musicians are to be a part of this, and just how magical things can be when a community gets together to do something big.
The volunteer kickoff party was Sunday and it was great to see such an eclectic bunch of ragtag misfits ready to serve. In case you’ve missed media coverage over the event, check these articles out:

As of today, there are 125 bands slated to play at the conferette. My plan is to listen to them all and highlight a band that catches my fancy each day. You may or may not agree with my tastes but that’s the beauty of a music festival. If you don’t like a band, take a walk to another venue and catch other!
‘Til tomorrow.
