Countdown to NX35 2010: 34 days ’til the North meets the South.
My moping and whining has worked! THE SUN HAS COME OUT TO PLAY! I don’t know about you folks but I’ve had a hell of a week. Everything seems to be falling in its right place today as I will leave my office today with an empty work queue, I was able to finish writing my first bit for local music blog, DayBowBow, happy hour is less than two hours away, and THE SUN! THE SUN! Anyway, I’m as ready to start the weekend as you are so I’m letting the music reflect my mood with this today:
Math the Band
There’s so many great small acts in the DFW/d area, I have little to no time to hunt down the great small acts in other areas of our great United States. Just another reason I am thankful for NX35 2010′s lineup and this crazy project because I’ve discovered good stuff from San Francisco, Indianapolis, and even Brazil! This time, I’ve headed to the far corner of the Northeast, Rhode Island, for synthpop band, Math the Band.
I imagine if our neurons and atoms and cells could speak when we’re on sugar highs, they would sound like Math the Band. This duo and their trusty drum machine brings frantic tunes that remind me of local act, Giggle Party but with a bigger lean toward the synth. (I know, it’s the third time I’ve mentioned GP recently, I don’t mean to, they are just there!) In fact, I hope their shows are just as high octane as they sound and that this article is true: 10% of all (Math the Band) shows led to hospitalization. Definitely not for the faint of heart but for those of you that need a break from all the acoustic guitars in Denton in March, let’s show Math the Band that Texans know how to let loose too.
Notable tunes to preview online: “LEETTSSS GOOOOO,” “Wear Wolf Feature” / Myspace / Facebook

Fun fact: Last summer Math the Band, Giggle Party and Fishboy played a Friday night DayBowBow house show in Dallas, and it was a mustache heavy affair.
