Countdown to NX35 2010: 31 days ’til we meet our neighbors from across the pond.

In case you missed the news before the weekend, NX35 added ten more acts to the ever-growing bill. And my suspicions seem to be confirmed every week: Until they release a firm schedule, we should expect more bands to be announced. Either way, I think it’s a win-win situation. Of course, it’s not for those of you who are still waiting for a schedule so you may buy your single night wristband. But unless you are in debt or are only passing through Denton for a night, why not buy an all-access wristband? You still have 31 days to plan out the weekend but I can’t say the wristbands will still be available then. Do I have to remind you that single night wristbands for Saturday are already sold out? Good. Now, let’s move on and get this week started right.

The Kissaway Trail

I woke up in the middle of the night due to the pouring rain and thunder which usually gives me a comforting feeling that I’m home under the covers and away from the rain. To my disappointment, the rain was still in full force this morning as I waded through puddles to get to work. But this is Texas and I know I just have to wait a day or two for the weather to change. On average, it only rains 79 days in the DFW. For The Kissaway Trail, one of the newly added bands, they see rainfall almost fifty percent of the year in Denmark. After listening to their tunes, it’s hard to imagine this fact.

If you google “The Kissaway Trail,” you will undoubtedly find the bands Polyphonic Spree and Arcade Fire mentioned as well. Many draw comparisons amongst the bands and others tell them that they are terrible comparisons. Either way, listen to “61″ and decide for yourself. Either way, enjoy the hopeful, sunshine of a song that was reportedly written in regards to the number of days a band member had to wait to find out if a family member had a terminal illness. Either way, the next time you are having a cloudy, rainy day, remember The Kissaway Trail and how they manage to produce full, playful creations despite the weather. With a new full-length album to be released in March, this should be an opportune time to catch The Kissaway Trail as they are in the States and ready to show us what they’ve been working on.
