Countdown to NX35 2010: 27 days ’til … wait, gotta make a snow man.

Okay, so I’m a little behind. My day job closed for a day and a half due to the snowstorm so I took full advantage of that. Hope you folks did, too. Lots of catching up to do, so here’s some fun tunes to go along with your fun memories.

Fishboy

If you can’t appreciate the song titles “Gameboy” or “Half Time at the Proper Name Spelling Bee” then you might want to move along. Fishboy delivers geeky indie pop that is the antithesis of jock jams. Well, I suppose both are upbeat and energetic but not exactly something you’d hear as a football team rips through the banners onto the field. Eric Michener’s sweet, little voice perfectly fronts the sweet, little perfect “lo-fi twee pop roots” of the band. Sweet enough for your grandma. Or your favorite nerd.
