Countdown to NX35 2010: 24 days ’til there’s a parade of a flesh in Denton.

Today, Parade of Flesh announced their NX35 showcase, and it’s a lineup I’ve been hoping for ever since I featured Giggle Party and Math the Band. Not only will those two crazy bands cause shenanigans at the Boiler Room but they will be joined by recently featured Fishboy and Smile Smile. Two bands that are new to me round up the bill, ”soul-blues-punk quartet” The Shakes and “dance party art rock” The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt. This showcase will be on NX35′s last night (and you should read about the booker responsible for Parade of Flesh shows), and there’s a very, very good chance you will see me in rare ridiculous form enjoying this show to the fullest. You can still buy a single night wristband for Sunday or an all-access wristband for the entire weekend, but either way, you can end the weekend on a very ridiculous note here.

The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt

If you can’t tell by the picture or the absurd name, The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt isn’t music for those that take life too seriously. Art school graduate, Neil Fridd, takes his art into the form of dance party shows where the lines between music and art, band and crowd, and concert and party are blurred. Every single photo and video I’ve seen of TPDR’s shows have included costumes (notably Fridd’s stuffed animal outfit), crowds yelling and jumping, and what looks to be an honest-to-goodness grand ol’ time. I’ll be honest and say I probably won’t pop in any of this stuff to listen to at work but when I’m done working and I’m ready to play, I’m gonna catch The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt.

Notable tunes to preview online: “Snowday”, “Fast Forward Regrets” / Myspace
