Countdown to NX35 2010: 15 days ’til you wear your lucky plaid shirt.
If you want to play a fun game during NX35, keep count of how many plaid shirts are wandering around the square. And then compare that to the number of unruly beards in the area. Plastic-framed eyeglasses won’t win the count but may come close. Of course, this game is in jest but I have nothing else to talk about this morning. Except I think if Dentonites were morphed into dogs, we’d look much like this. So wash your tight jeans soon and buy a wristband now because NX35 is around the corner!
Jupiter One
If Sarah Jaffe isn’t enough to reel you into Dan’s Silver Leaf on the Friday night of NX35 then here’s another convincing reason: Jupiter One. Geeks may recognize their tunes from playing almost any EA sports game in 2008, and couch potatoes might have heard them before while watching Heroes or that show with the dude missing the belly button, Kyle XY. If you’re out of the loop then you’re in luck. Now you know about them.
It’s hard to pigeonhole this New York band into a specific genre as they bring a little bit of funk, pop, and rock into their upbeat tunes. What’s easy to say is that Jupiter One is fun. Their melodies lead into singalongs and their bass lines bring a groove that gets the body swaying. They radio-friendly sound and energetic vibe definitely make this group one to catch if you and your pals can’t agree to a show to hit up on the second night of the music conferette. And I haven’t included videos much during this countdown but this one was much too amusing to pass up:
