Countdown to NX35 2010: 14 days ’til you’ll want to be in 11 places at once.

TWO WEEKS LEFT! Have you started planning your NX35 weekend yet? You probably already know a handful of “can’t miss” bands and if you’re like me, you are coming to the sad realization that you are going to miss some good shows because you’re at another good show. The head honchos haven’t ironed out a time table for each showcase yet but a good rule of thumb will be to find a showcase and stick to it. Wanna see The Walkmen? You’ll probably have to stake your claim at Hailey’s and enjoy Follow That BirdJookabox, and Pomegranates while you’re there. Just because you have a wristband doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed in a venue as you can only cram so many sweaty, stinky, smoking hipsters in one bar. It’s a sad truth but being surrounded by so much music with so many music lovers? Not a bad predicament to be in at all.

Quiet Company

Earlier this week, I dug up my iPod Nano and loaded the few NX35er tracks I have. My commute to work is two minutes long so I don’t get to listen to much but yesterday, I had a good ten minutes in my car to enjoy some tunes. I was in a great mood and needed something to mirror my energy. I skipped songs until I heard something I liked. Every time I stopped to listen, I checked the band’s name. Almost every time, it was Quiet Company.

Piano-driven pop/rock is some of the best music to play when the sun is shining and your windows are rolled down which is exactly what was happening as I drove the streets of Denton yesterday. Carefree, light-hearted, and fun best describe this Austin-based band and their tunes. Even their Twitter account is playful and they do quite a job of staying connected with their fans. Seems fitting that they will be playing at Jupiter House on Sunday night as you can load up on caffeine and try to match their energetic set.

I don’t know why I haven’t been posting videos throughout this entire countdown but I’m going to keep it going now especially since this homemade video is just as fun as the song:

edit: Quiet Company replied to me via Twitter to let me know you can listen to their entire album at http://quietcompany.bandcamp.com. Only $7 to buy, too! Thanks guys!
