Countdown to NX35 2010: 12 days ’til you’re crossing your fingers.

Yes, this is postdated. You see, Saturday was dedicated to the one-year blogiversary of daybowbow.net, a house show at The Majestic Dwelling of Doom, and most of all, enjoying the warm, sunshiny sun. As I sat out on the back patio of Dan’s, I met the sun with full arms and a sunblock-less nose. The music was blaring inside, I was making new friends outside, and it only took an hour before I left for a frozen yogurt break. It was just a gorgeous day in Denton, Texas. And that’s my hope for NX35 weekend. Four beautiful days of sunshine, community, music, and ice cold treats. If it rains, we’ll still have fun but some of us need a little extra vitamin D. Let’s cross our fingers.

Drive Like Maria

Those expecting a calm Sunday evening with their books and their thoughts at the Jupiter House on Sunday, March 14th, will be sorely disappointed. Those expecting a flippin’ rock show will be fully satisfied. Making their way from Belgium and Holland, Drive Like Maria will override your need for coffee as they bring some loud, straight, no-frills rock. Influences stated include Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, and Frank Zappa if that gives you any idea of what to expect. I don’t have much else to say about Drive Like Maria since most of their articles are not written in English but I’m guessing there will be plenty to read about after NX35 and SXSW. For now, roll down your windows (or look out a window) and crank this up:
