Countdown to NX35 2010: 2 days ’til you get some exercise.
This will be dated March 9 but I am actually writing this a day before the festival begins. I say this so I won’t confuse those that haven’t kept up with my procrastination and think I’m either terrible at math or psychic. Several articles popped up today (March 10) that reminds Denton of the magnitude of this music conferette, namely the free show at the fairgrounds that will draw at least ten times more people than the parking lot can handle. You may be able to catch one of the few pedicabs in town, let Querencia Community Bike Shop valet your bicycle, or dust off your sneakers and walk. I know, this is Texas and we don’t walk much anywhere but let’s try to avoid ticking off as many people as possible, okay? Exercise releases endorphins and will give you extra cheer too!
Young and Brave
This feature will be short and sweet because I only have twenty minutes left in this day. And I still have a few more days to post to complete this countdown so no disrespect to today’s featured band! I recently caught Young and Brave at DayBowBow’s One-Year Blogiversary and they were one of the most memorable acts of the afternoon for me. This five-piece act from Denton delivered rock with soul and grit that actually caused me to leave my warm spot outside on Dan’s porch and into the bar to see them for myself. If you’re unsure of which band to catch Saturday night, check out Young and Brave at The Hydrant. And now, a video to make up for my lack of words.
Notable tunes to preview online: “Holy Ghost”, “No Sympathy”/ Myspace / Facebook
